She & Him, the indie pop duo of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, is releasing their third album today, A Very She & Him Christmas. They add their folk touch to Christmas standards in a sophisticated and classy album. Deschanel, the adorable star of the Fox series, New Girl, effortlessly glides through several Christmas favorites, including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,”Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” and “Silver Bells”.

Coming off their critically acclaimed album, Volume Two, the group has created fun and enjoyable renditions of many Christmas favorites. I could not resist singing and dancing along with them, even though Christmas is two months away.

The twelve track record features suave and sweet balads that we have come to love from She & Him. However, to be fair, the album is not groundbreaking in any way, and does not stretch She & Him in new directions. Some of the covers seem fairly boring and unspectacular. However, I enjoyed listening to the album, and am looking forward to playing it more this Christmas season. In a Christmas season dominated by other holidays albums by Justin Beiber, Jersey Boys, and Michael Bublé, “A Very She & Him Christmas” rises far above the rest.
