Photos: The Modern Skirts at Georgia Museum of Art [Athens, GA]

It was an intimate night with The Modern Skirts when they played a set at the Grand Reopening of the Georgia Museum of Art on the campus of The University of Georgia, in Athens, on Friday, Feb. 4.

The newly remodeled halls of the museum echoed with the sounds of an unplugged, stripped down performance from one of the hottest bands in Athens while a crowd of less than 200 gathered like a kindergarten class on a field trip. In fact a six year old fan was a staple of the show as he danced and sang every word to every song.

While Jay Gulley and Phillip Brantley played guitar and other assorted instruments, JoJo Glidewell played the keys (and a little guitar too), while John Swint played a snare drum on the floor, a road case, a tambourine and anything else with which he could keep the rythm. The band was also accompanied by K.C. Commander on the cello for a few tunes.
