Luke Goddard

Luke Founder | EditorIn the Summer of 2009 after having earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, Luke had the idea of starting a music-zine that would promote Georgia, independent talent especially, but maintaining a broad focus on artists and bands across the globe. After this humble idea became a reality, Luke has since seen The Blue Indian grow into a community of writers teamed together with the sole purpose of commenting on art. At one point, Luke kind of thought he was a big deal when newspapers and magazines all over the country ran stories about his popular engagement video on YouTube. Oh and don’t ask him about he and his wife being on TLC’s show “Wild Weddings.” Thank God all of that national coverage died out because it was really getting to his head. He now lives a very quiet life in Macon, GA and is an incredibly awesome husband to Drew, a tender-hearted super-human father to Lennox, a snooty music snob, a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan, an avid golfer, and a sushi connoisseur.

Q&A with Washed Out (a.k.a. Ernest Greene)

Luke Goddard of The Blue Indian sits down to chat with Ernest Greene – the man behind Washed Out!

LAKE

LAKE – “Don’t Give Up”

You recently read a Q&A; Blue Indian did with LAKE, a band off of Calvin Johnson’s label (K Records). Eli Moore, multi-instrumentalist/vocals of LAKE, sent over, ironically, one of my favorite jams this summer. It’s ironic because this tune has such a “fall-ish” feel to it, not summer-ish like something along the lines of Washed Out.“Don’t [...]

Showcase Photographer: Mary Katherine Dunwody

Mary Katherine Dunwody (a.k.a Some Witches Are Horses) sent over some pretty rad photographs this evening. She sent a nice little collection of what I call “movement” photos. I’ll show those another time. For now, appreciate the beautiful lower-half of this horse, and perhaps most importantly, the idea behind the shot. The tint of the [...]

Showcase Photographer: Whitney Brown

Whitney Brown (a.k.a Legit Whit) sent over a handful of photographs. This one is interesting. I’m pretty sure I’m going to use it for a Luke and Drew single called, “Fish Bowl,” which will be released via cassette tape and mp3. This photo will more than likely be used for the J-card, although I should [...]

Amy Godwin

Amy Godwin – “Bones”

She’s from McDonough, GA, but is often found serenading the drooling men and women around downtown Macon, GA. I first discovered this Norah Jones successor while attending one of my brother-in-law’s shows. I can remember parking my car a few blocks down and hearing a big voice coming from the area where my bro would [...]

Sam Spina - First Time I went somewhere to sell comics

Sam Spina

Screw the newspaper. It’s boring anyways. Make it a morning ritual to begin your day with a Spina Doodle. Sam Spina of Columbia, SC, contacted Blue Indian this morning. I’m glad he did. He’s mailing some of his comic books to Blue Indian to be reviewed. Until then, you should check out his online collection. [...]

Seabear

Blue Indian Live Footage: Seabear in Barcelona.

More music from the Icelandic band, Seabear. You recently read a Blue Indian Q & A with Seabear. Here’s Seabear performing one of their hits, “Cat Piano.” Fall in love with Seabear over here

LAKE

Q&A with K Records’ LAKE

LAKE, a band out of Olympia, are a 6 person band signed to K Records. Their blissful harmonies, layered over crisp bass tones and the celestial sound of keyboard and guitar, could cure cancer. They have toured across the world several times with such talented acts as Adrian Orange and Her Band, Half Handed Cloud, Laura [...]

Ben Kamer

Ben Kamen/Invisible River – “Blurry Lines”

An eccentric artist who goes by the moniker, “Invisible River,” Ben Kamen sent over this weary tune called, “Blurry Lines.” It is taken off of his new, self-titled album, “Invisible River.” He’s currently on tour with Eleanor Murray until September 11th. The tune has a certain ambiguity to it that leaves the listener peeling endless [...]
