free mp3: “Neighbors” by Now, Now + New Album

now, nowNow, Now :: Neighbors

Minneapolis, MN trio Now, Now and No Sleep Records are proud to announce the release of the Neighbors EP, out December 7th. Two years removed from their critically acclaimed album Cars(2008), and missing a few words off their name (formerly Now, Now Every Children), Neighbors marks a rebirth of sorts for the twin cities group.

2009 was a heady year that saw Now, Now lifted from the cold of the upper Midwest, and thrust into multiple US and European tours on account of their successful debut Cars. But after the strangeness of going from 100 capacity rooms to playing with arena sized act, Now, Now found it time to collect composure and reassess where the miles traveled had actually brought them. The obvious step seemed to be to get back to basics and build from what they knew. They began ruminating on ideas they’d thought up here and there while on the road, and in contrast to Cars, opted out of the studio and returned to the basement to lay down the tracks that would become the Neighbors EP.

Entirely self-recorded, engineered, and produced, the sincerity found on the seven new recordings bleeds through with stunning clarity. Cacie’s ever-angelic vocals are wrapped inside Jess and Brad’s guitars, bells, drums, keys, and effects. The resulting blanket of sound binds to form propulsive wall of sonic energy that alternately chugs and sways along to the groups unique interplay between melody and rhythm. Acoustic versions of the tracks “Giants” and “Neighbors” at the end of the EP provide a beautiful take on each, and show the versatility of Now, Now and their songs.

Pre-Order deals and discounts including special prices on T-Shirts and limited edition items may be found at No Sleep Records. Now, Now plan to play select tour dates throughout the end of the year before heading back to the basement to finish work on their sophomore album.
