music video: “Marriage” by GOLD PANDA

Capping off a stunning 2010, Gold Panda was awarded the Guardian UK’s First Album Award for his efforts on Lucky Shiner. Announced in late January, the competitors included Marina & The Diamonds, Mount Kimbie, Ikonika, and Stornoway amongst others. Described by the Guardian as “a combination of warm, lo-fi electronica, a patchwork of crackly samples and melodies that stick”, the newspaper based its decision upon the fact that Lucky Shiner was “the album the panel have found themselves coming back to the most.” A fair and enjoyable old-fashioned reason for issuing the accolade. Lucky Shiner also made many end of year lists by Pitchfork, AOL Spinner, Stereogum, Mixmag, Rough Trade, The Independent, Drowned in Sound, The Blue Indian and more.

As one of the most acclaimed new electronic artist of 2010, Gold Panda has already announced a raft of activity for 2011. A third single from Lucky Shiner, “Marriage,” will be available on March 1st digitally and as a limited 12″ for Record Store Day on April 16th. The single includes reworks by BATHS (check out our interview with him HERE), Star Slinger, and Forest Swords. The video for “Marriage” was created by Israeli artist Ronni Shendar on location in India, Germany and Israel during December 2010 and January 2011. The director is also known for her live A/V work with electronic producer Glitterbug (Till Rohmann) with whom she runs the c.sides festival and label.
