Just days away from the release of their twelfth full-length album, English Oceans, Drive-By Truckers will be treating crowds at the 40 Watt in their hometown of Athens, GA to three consecutive nights of music from the forthcoming album, plus hits and gems from their previous records.

Scheduled for release via ATO Records on March 4th (March 3rd – UK), English Oceans seems to be the groups most uniquely collaborative effort to date. Co-founding member Patterson Hood says of the record, “I don’t think we’ve ever had a record where Cooley was as deeply involved in every aspect of the making of it as he was this time. With Cooley’s writing, there’s almost no precedent for it in our catalog. He came in with this stunning bunch of songs, full of this beautiful imagery.

From Thursday, February 13th to Saturday, February 15th, the Truckers will be taking over the 40 Watt and are bringing some talented friends in tow. Though two of the shows are already sold out (14th-15th), a few tickets are still available for the opening night of this hat-trick run.

Thursday, February 13th – w/ NEW MADRID

Tickets are still available for this show! Athens’ own New Madrid is well beyond being simply touted as an “opening act” – the young, but seasoned four-piece play dark & charming garage rock, incorporating sounds of Southern psychedelia with bright, delay-driven choruses. The band will be releasing their sophomore album, Sunswimmer, on New West Records on February 25th, though you can hear a preview of the lead single, “Manners” via Pitchfork.com

Friday, February 14th – w/ T. HARDY MORRIS + CAMP AMPED BAND

It’s safe to say that anyone who’s frequented the 40 Watt, Georgia Theatre, Caledonia etc.. over the past few years is familiar with T. Hardy Morris in some form or fashion. Since making his debut in Athens in 2006 with Dead Confederate, he’s gone on to join Diamond Rugs (members of Deer Tick, The Black Lips, Los Lobos), and more recently released a collection of songs written outside of the realms of his other projects – aptly named Audition Tapes. Check out our “Band of the Month” feature with Hardy from May 2013, as well as his participation in the “Places in Peril” project. Sorry, this one’s sold out, but you’re likely to find some tickets on Craigslist or around town that day.

DBT welcome the newest incantation of the Camp Amped Band to open the bill – a band featuring members of Camp Amped, a session provided by Nuci’s Space that allows young musicians the chance to be a part of the workings of a rock band.

Saturday, February 15th – w/ ST. PAUL & THE BROKEN BONES

Again, this one’s sold out – and for a good reason. Ticket holders are getting the third and final set of what should be another historic run from Drive-By Truckers, but also a chance to catch St. Paul & the Broken Bones, a six-piece, Birmingham, Alabama-based soul-revival act well worthy of the seemingly endless hype they’re receiving. Dates with Jason Isbell, Betty Lavette, Alabama Shakes are already behind them, and a new album follows only a few days after this show. Half the City is due out February 18th on Single Lock Records. Don’t worry if you couldn’t make this show – the Broken Bones will be back in Atlanta on February 22nd at the Earl and in Athens on March 20th at Georgia Theatre.
