Madre Padre is set to make their debut in Macon, Georgia on Friday, August 9th but the members of the band have been playing music together in some capacity over the past five years. “At one point, Johnny was recording Alec’s band, while playing in a band with me..while also working on his own project”, says bassist Ryan Bohannon. “We’ve all been in bands that haven’t panned out the way that we wanted them to and I think that collective sense of determination is what gives Madre Padre the energy it has. We love what we’re doing and we’re eager to share that with our community here and beyond.”

Thick tones and raunchy rhythms” makes for a fitting description of the tracks that I’ve heard so far. Though their debut EP is still in the pre-production phase, the band wanted to share their progress with their friends and family. They’re expecting to release the EP later this year and follow that with an East Coast tour.

Madre Padre makes their debut at The Hummingbird Stage & Taproom in Macon on Friday, August 9th with Tokyo Spa. $5.00 at the door – 18+
