Janelle Monáe at Mercer University – October 7th

The ground-breaking, genre-blurring singer, songwriter, producer, and performer, Janelle Monáe’s inventive style melds a refined pop sensibility with an extraordinary postmodern mash-up of soul, funk, and rock n roll.  Her debut album “The ArchAndroid”, was released to worldwide critical acclaim, garnering Monáe two Grammy Nominations.

In addition to releasing her album, Ms. Monáe, who has developed a reputation for her incredibly dynamic live shows, has spent the past two years touring with a collection of diverse artists such as Of Montreal, Erykah Badu, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and the one and only Prince.

“I love the idea of bringing more of an overall experience onto college campuses,” says Janelle Monáe. “CCT has the right formula by combining music and activism and delivering it in a fun and appealing way to students around the country. I look forward to being a part of this unique tour.”

On Friday, October 7th, Ms. Monáe will make a stop at Mercer University’s Grand Opera House as part of the 2011 College Conciseness Tour. In previous years, the tour has featured the likes of Passion Pit, Drake, OAR, Guster and many more.  She’ll be joined by none other than the talented indie-pop group fun. ( Headed by Nate Ruess – The Format ). Make sure to check out the Campus Consciousness Tour website for questions and information regarding day-of events. This is one that we’ve been waiting for for a long, long time. We’re hoping to see every single person in Georgia here.
