Show Review + Photos: WOWSER BOWSER @ The Hummingbird, Macon, GA

TBI was recently lucky enough to bring our July “Band of the Month” to Macon for a late-night show with fellow Atlanta band Shook Foil. While this wasn’t Wowser Bowser‘s first time in Macon, it was easily the most well received and attended with an eager crowd dancing and singing with band leader George Pettis and the rest of the group. Their sound isn’t one that would commonly be found coming from the stage of The Hummingbird but that was probably what intrigued the regulars that were hanging around the most. The four equally dynamic members of the band quickly found a common ground with the crowd that had assembled directly in front of the stage and they weren’t far into their second or third song before Pettis had left the stage, mic in hand, to join them and share vocal duties.

Give these guys a few months and I think you’ll be genuinely surprised with what they can accomplish. That’s not to say that they aren’t capable of getting where they need to be, it’s just one of those things that isn’t going to develop over night and that’s what is going to make their careers so worthwhile. I don’t think I’d be far from the truth if I said that there are plenty of people who agree with me and plenty more who will once they give them a chance. While it doesn’t seem that they’ll be playing any shows in Georgia in the next few weeks, you can catch them at the Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina in September. Maybe we’ll see you there?
