Acoustic Alley: Paleface

palefacePALEFACE, a “neo-folk icon” (Flagpole, Athens GA) is on tour as a high energy three piece Folk/ Rock/ Americana band featuring his darling drummer Mo Samalot and new band member Soren Mattson. Paleface celebrated the release of his latest album One Big Party (Ramseur Records) with a special guest-performance alongside label-mates The Avett Brothers at Radio City Music Hall, followed by US and Europe tours. Soon after, PASTE Magazine premiered “PALEFACE: The Making Of One Big Party,” a short documentary which features the some of the album’s recording process and follows the band as they tour the US. Paleface’s latest video for One Big Party’s title-track released this winter and received TV exposure via MTV’s college station mtvU as well as via satellite and online outlets. And just this Spring Paleface performed at Mountain Stage and the show has been airing worldwide via National Public Radio (NPR) and the Voice of America’s satellite radio service.

PALEFACE, was schooled musically by Daniel Johnston and soon discovered at an NYC open mic by Danny Fields (The Stooges, The Ramones, MC5). He has released over a dozen records including two major label releases, and has been quoted as major influence and inspiration to a wide range of artists from electropopsters YACHT to Grammy Award recipients Kimya Dawson (Juno soundtrack), and BECK who says “Paleface was a big influence on my early work” in Annie Leibovitz’s book “American Music.” Paleface has also collaborated and appeared on three albums by The Avett Brothers.

As they gear up to play this year’s Bragg Jam Arts and Music Festival, we figured what better introduction than an Acoustic Alley session brought to you by yours truly.
