Acoustic Alley: Alexander and the Grapes

Welcome to a special series of Acoustic Alley videos! Until now the videos have all been shot in Macon, GA near TBI headquarters. The series got its unexpected start in August 2010 with a Tampa Bay artist (Geri X) so we thought it only right to have our first breakout videos be with some other great artists from that part of Florida.

Alexander and the Grapes are one of that region’s most popular local musicians and have quickly established a name for themselves over the past year. The band recently signed to New Granada Records and recorded their first LP which they are currently mixing for an early 2012 release. If that wasn’t enough, they also just wrapped up a successful tour of the East Coast (watch their great video recap) and are opening for the one-and-only David Bazan this Wednesday at The Crowbar in Tampa.

The guys played two stripped down acoustic songs for us in front of the Clearwater City Hall. Afterward, Alexander took a stroll and played us a song solo under an overpass that was a favorite improvised skate park of his in high school when it was under construction.

If you’d like to hear the band’s usual electrified sound, head over to their bandcamp page where you can play/buy their self-titled debut EP from last year.
