Live Footage & Photos: SHEARWATER

“A Shearwater is a gull-like bird that spends its days soaring over open water…. Its name is derived from the birds’ habit of gliding on stiff wings along the troughs of waves.”

That’s what I learned from Pat, a 73-year-old great-grandmother and sailor. I think she did a fantastic job of describing the Shearwater bird and the Shearwater band so I’ll leave it at that. After all, it’s no coincidence that the band’s lead singer Jonathan Meiburg (a graduate student in ornithology) chose that name.
