Andy Barton - Writer

Andy Barton is a 24 year-old writer originally from Chapin, South Carolina. He grew up visiting Athens, Georgia, and the UGA campus, relishing time away from his small town (three stoplights) to visit his two older sisters in school there. He ended up moving to Athens in 2009 to pursue a degree in journalism at UGA and jump headfirst into learning more about the musical community there. During his time in Athens—four years in school and one after college—he wrote about music and culture for campus life magazine Ampersand, and worked as a publicist for independent musicians. He joined a band and eventually moved to Atlanta before Athens called him back for round two.
Now back in the Classic City, he writes about music freelance for Flagpole, their alt-weekly, and hopes to pursue a master’s degree in Narrative Non-Fiction Media Writing next fall at his alma mater. He also plans on spending most days thinking as much about words and guitars as he does student loan debt.
