7 Minutes in Heaven with: MINOR MIRACLES

We’ve been following the players in Minor Miracles for several years as they have graced various music projects in the Southeast (remember producer Matt Little’s great “Littlest Sounds” compilations? or Little and Lowery’s Commerce?). The GA/TN friends’ new project is primarily based out of Atlanta and has already released a free EP (available on Bandcamp). This weekend they will be playing their first show at East Atlanta’s 529 Bar (along with Brazos and Ski Lodge) – 8pm, Friday the 13th. We wouldn’t miss it for all the egg nog in the world!

Hit play on music player to the right and check out our short interview with the band below!

1. Where are you from and how long have you been a band (or been making music)?

We all met in school in TN (Mike, Mark and Matt all went to the same college and we met Josh through a friend) and have been playing together and recording off and on for the past 12 years or so. Mike was living up north in DC, so playing shows/touring was basically impossible until he moved down to Atlanta a few years back.

Mike and his wife spend part of the winter every year in a tiny town called Völksen in Northern Germany in a 500 year-old farm house (the house where his wife grew up). Two years back, he borrowed some instruments from some family and friends and recorded a few ideas for new songs/a new band and when he got back he got together with the guys and started playing through them. Minor Miracles was born.

2. Describe your sound in 5 words.

indie rock with electronic bits

3. If you had to choose one song from your album that our readers have to hear, what would it be and why?

I Can Feel You Breathing” – if they want to rock a little
Raise Your Hands” – if they want to rock a lot

4. What were 5 of your favorite albums from 2013?

We made a playlist on Spotify that has some stuff from: CHVRCHES, Vampire Weekend, Bad Bad Hats, Local Natives, STRFKR, On an On, and Geographer

5. Name a band that we might not have heard of yet but should definitely check out.

I’m not sure if we would know stuff that a dedicated music blog wouldn’t know yet, but I just found out about Bad Bad Hats and really love it.

6. What’s big and exciting for you in 2014?

We are very excited about the full-length record that we are currently working on. Fingers-crossed, it should be out sometime early Spring.
