Chicago’s Smith Westerns will release its sophomore LP, Dye It Blonde, on Fat Possum on Jan. 18.  That’s the cover art above, and the track list is included below.  The record was produced by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, !!!, TVOTR, Beach House, etc.) in New York City.  The band has already won wide acclaim based on its self-titled debut, originally released in 2009 via the Chicago label HoZac while all of the band members were still enrolled in high school. The band has a handful of US shows this Fall, but none apply to those of us in Georgia. Just in case you’re randomly in any of these cities, I figured I’d at least drop the dates below. They’d be a huge hit to your trip if you’re, for some reason, randomly traveling through. After that last US date in Milwaukee, they’ll be heading out to tour Europe with MGMT.
