Party in the Park 2013 – May 18th – Atlanta, Georgia

Party in the ParkParty in the Park - YTG Drummer Shot copyRemember last year when The Flaming Lips took over Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park? We do. Bringing Young the Giant, AWOLNATION, Dawes, and Ponderosa, the one-day festival packed out the park and established the event as one of the premier live music events in the city. Seeing as 2013 has been the year of “let’s see who can have the largest music festival yet”, Party in the Park opted to keep things simple; offer a smaller lineup of some of the top-billed artists in the nation, set up camp at a park that is conveniently located in Atlanta and is ideal for a festival of this size, and keep ticket prices affordable while still offering a luxury option. I like. Well, Party in the Park is back – Saturday, May 18th.

The 2013 lineup features a headlining appearance from Passion Pit – still touring in support of their latest release, Gossamer, with direct support from EDM sweetheart Ellie Goulding, as well as the somewhat elusive (and much anticipated) Yeasayer, as well as GROUPLOVE, and Atlanta’s The Electric Sons – who we recently profiled in our Record Fair review and at Bearstock.

With general admission tickets set at only $35.00 (about how much it would cost to see Passion Pit alone), there’s no doubt that the park that recently held Zac Brown Band, Grace Potter, Muse, Ludacris and more (as part of the Final Four events) should be filled to near capacity.

Or you can opt for a VIP experience (21+ only.. which is great) that includes all-inclusive food, beer, cocktails etc.., a covered pavilion and front-of-stage access, private (and clean) restrooms, and all your typical amenities. VIP tickets are only $115.00 and easily worth their value. For a few more dollars, you can keep the party going at the festival’s official hotel, the W Midtown, just minutes from the event.

Want to get the good times rolling a bit earlier? The night of Friday the 17th, Wil May, Atlanta’s “King of Cool” is hosting what should be one of the best parties to hit the city this year. Wil’s event have become a destination for anyone looking for a unique alternative to nightlife in Atlanta. That’s why he’s teamed up with Grouplove to bring you a special edition of COOL. Check it out.

Already, 2013 has been a huge year for outdoor festivals in Atlanta. The city has one of the most beautiful skylines in the country and is fortunately easy to navigate – especially during large events. We have high expectations for Party in the Park 2013 and feel sure they’ll deliver. See you in Atlanta on May 18th.
