TheBlueIndian.com crew is thrilled to wrap up another amazing year (our 4th) as a site + community. We’ve had some of the best and brightest up-and-coming acts in America travel through Macon at some point over the last year and our 5 year milestone is already shaping up to be the best yet. Our site reaches far beyond the city limits of Macon, Georgia – our hometown – but we do our best to shine some light on what’s going on here.

On Thursday, December 26th, we’re pleased to present THOMAS WYNN & THE BELIEVERS, the sensational Southern-rock group from Orlando, Florida who won over audiences in Macon with near-capacity performances at Bragg Jam & Weaver’s Weekend this past Summer. The band holds a soft spot in the hearts of many Maconites, as Thomas & Olivia (his sister) are the children of Tom Wynn, the drummer from COWBOY, a Capricorn Records act that recorded and played in Macon for many years.

They’ll be supported by Cicada Rhythm, a two-piece act via Athens, GA comprised of Andrea DeMarcus, a Juliard-trained upright bassist, and David Kirsilis, an articulate guitarist and songwriter. The respective sounds of these two bands offer quite a unique contrast, something that we’ve strived to offer in our bookings over the years.

Then, on Saturday, December 28th, critically acclaimed indie rock act GRINGO STAR makes their long overdue debut in Macon at The Hummingbird Stage & Taproom alongside New Madrid (Athens) and local favorites, sunDollars. GRINGO STAR, now comprised of brothers Nicholas + Peter Furgiule (along with touring musicians), broke onto the indie rock circuit in 2008 with rave reviews for their debut, All Y’all, and have committed themselves to a seemingly never-ending schedule of touring-recording (repeat) that has led them to where they are now – fresh off the release of Floating Out to See, a beautifully layered record that’s found its way onto a number of “Best of” lists this year.

New Madrid, an Athens-based act has had quite the year themselves; shows with J. Roddy Walston, Washed Out, Futurebirds, Roadkill Ghost Choir, and many more only make up a small part of their recent credentials. Check out their Acoustic Alley from SXSW 2013.

sunDollars is a Macon-based indie-pop act that we’ve grown to love over the past few years. Since their formation, they’ve supported Wild Moccasins, Ponderosa, Modern Skirts, Quiet Company, and more.

It’s been an amazing year and we hope you’ll join us to close it out in proper fashion!
