Win Two Tickets to WAKARUSA 2013: May 30th – June 2nd
The drive from Georgia to Arkansas goes by much fast than you would expect, at least when you’re riding in the front seat instead of crammed in the back of a van with way more camping gear than you need and a few passed out friends. Last year, TheBlueIndian.com crew packed up our things and headed West to make our inaugural visit to one of the most highly-anticipated US festivals of the year – WAKARUSA. Named after a Native American term meaning “river of big weeds” (huh huh) or “ass deep” – depending on the context, the festival has become a destination for all walks of life seeking to participate in the unique cultural experience of seeing 100+ artists perform on top of a mountain.
Offering a camping experience that rivals the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida, Wakarusa presents a lineup that’s weighted towards the jam crowd but still highlights indie stars (Of Monsters & Men) and rising acts (Shovels & Rope, Band of Heathens, The Last Bison) and the ever-powerful EDM crowd (2013 features appearances by Baauer, Minnesota, RJD2, Zeds Dead and more).
Wakarusa will celebrate their 10 year anniversary this summer with an epic lineup that includes: Widespread Panic, Dispatch, Snoop Lion, Gogol Bordello, The Black Crowes, STS9, and breakout electronic artist Amon Tobin along with over 150 musical acts from around the world. Wakarusa has developed a reputation for booking some of the nation’s best musical acts. Throughout the years, Wakarusa has presented some of live music’s very biggest stars such as The Black Keys, Skrillex, Mumford & Sons, Bassnectar and last year’s sensations, The Lumineers.
