Acoustic Alley: Look Alive

Atlanta punk band Look Alive first popped onto my radar through a mutual friend of guitarist Cody Wellons that works with him at Atlanta’s car culture magazine, S3. Knowing that I spent my formative years listening to pop-punk, he suggested giving their 2 song sampler a listen. And these two songs were all I needed to know that these guys were the real deal; the vocals, the classic punk harmonies, the impossibly catchy riffs; it was all there. Being that this genre had largely disappeared from the public eye, drowned out by over-produced, synth-laden imitations, Look Alive was both refreshing and nostalgic all at once.

With the release of their 7 song EP Mistakes and Milestones on Autumn + Colour Records, they set out on a Southeast tour that luckily included a set at The 567. We recorded an Acoustic Alley in our rain location with Jacob, George, and Cody, and hopefully captured enough of their sound to win you over like it did us. If you like what you hear, check out Mistakes and Milestones and see the rest of the band live at The Masquerade on August 29.
