Atlanta-based band Noel Stephen and the Darlings has been playing the Atlanta scene for a few years, but I had never had a chance to meet lead man Noel Hart in person until this session. Kyle and Chris, the drummer and bassist for the group, have been some of my best friends through the years, and when I heard the band was going to be opening up for Blue Indian favorites Besides Daniel and oh dorian at The 567, I figured it would be a great chance to capture a few tunes for our Acoustic Alley series. In an acoustic setting, Noel Stephen and the Darlings’ music has an uncommon charm to it, and with the tongue-in-cheek witty lyrics, the final product ends up being fun and light-hearted, but ridiculously well-executed.
